I've deeply put thought into this and simply put, in this crazy country, if you are not mentally retarded or physically disabled, you have absolutely no excuse for poverty.
But following these set of rules, I will 100% guarantee that you avoid poverty. If you ever end up actually poor after following these rules, you let me know:
-Stay in Highschool until you at least graduate high school.
-Don't get pregnant and have children until you can afford them.
-No job is beneath you, take a job, any job, do the best you can at it, look for a better job.
-Never leave a job until you have a better paying one to replace it.
-Don't be a felon. Felon's have almost no income earning potential.
Now if you could care less about yourself (or your family) enough to follow those simple steps, then why should I give a damn about you? More importantly, what grants you the law right to use the government to convert me, or others, into sacrificial, rightless animals laboring to complete the needs of people who don't care about themselves?
What made this country amazing in the first place is that we rewarded work and achievement, and we took responsibility for ourselves. And there were consequences if we did not.
If you failed to follow these simple rules, you ended up begging for charity, and it was called that: "charity."
At some point "begging for charity" became an affront to the dignity of people who failed. If you were concerned with your "dignity", perhaps you should have put more effort into it. But now we don't have charity, we have "entitlement." People are "entitled" to health care. People are "entitled" to a job, regardless of if they can perform it.
That "entitlement" is what is slowly, but surely chiseling away at that greatness of this country. That greatness is almost 100% gone now...
Take responsibility for yourself. The check from the government isn't or damned well shouldn't help your dignity. You want dignity? Earn it like the rest of us did. Take responsibility for yourself, your actions and your choices. That's dignified. Suckling on the public tit makes you a child. There's no dignity in that.
